Ironing 4.0 in dry-cleaning

A monitoring panel for Trevil products with 4.0 industry module

The fourth industrial revolution that has been leading the renewal of the producers and their businesses for years now, has started influencing the world of ironing, too. Although it actually refers to
totally robotized “cyber-physical” systems (for example the assembly lines of the automotive industry), on a smaller level, industry 4.0 can also be applied to the world of ironing automation.

The use of the automation to speed up ironing operations has already become an acquired technology: automatic finishers for jackets, shirts and trousers help hundreds of thousands of laundries around the world to achieve optimal ironing results taking very little time, which is unthinkable and not comparable to hand ironing.

The concept of industry 4.0, particularly attractive in Italy thanks to the government incentives for the purchase of the latest generation machines, is to allow one-to-one communication with every machine, making it possible to plan work, to monitor the productivity and diagnose anomalies.

Taking advantage of a network connection that customers need to make available at the machine installation point, the 4.0 package software allows to connect to the machine, for example to a shirt press.
It performs operations that, until recently, were only possible to carry out from the product console. For example, it is possible to load and download ironing programs, a useful function for those who own several machines of the same type. Also, it is possible to monitor the operations of the machine any time and monitor the number of garments that have been treated for each type. Taking the shirt finisher as an example again, it will be possible to check how many short-sleeved or long-sleeved shirts were ironed during a shift.

In the event of anomalies or maintenance requests, it is possible to view the error message from remote and take the necessary actions. The diagnostic module incorporated in the Trevitouch control panels by Trevil can also be accessed remotely using a PC software. It allows to connect to the machine in order to perform a more detailed diagnosis based on the visible data.

The 4.0 Trevitouch panels will soon be available on the Trevistar shirt finishing range, on the Pantastar trousers press and on the Treviform finisher.
